Mobile Biofilms for Wastewater Treatment Process Intensification and Biological Nutrient Removal
Dr. Joshua P. Boltz and Dr. Glen Daigger’s paper, titled “Mobile Biofilms for Wastewater Treatment Process Intensification and Biological Nutrient Removal,” has been published in WE&T in the February 2023 issue. This paper presents the MOB Process Modes of operation. We congratulate Dr. Boltz and Dr. Daigger, two of our industry’s leading authorities, on this important accomplishment.

A Mobile-Organic Biofilm Process for Wastewater Treatment
Dr. Joshua P. Boltz and Dr. Glen T. Daigger have recently published a paper titled “A Mobile-Organic Biofilm Process for Wastewater Treatment” in the peer-reviewed journal Water Environment Research. This paper presents the MOB process (1) modes of operation, (2) design and analysis methodology, (3) process and mechanical design criteria, (4) mathematical modeling, (5) design equations, and (6) mobile-biofilms settling characteristics and return.

Modeling wastewater treatment by mobile biofilm and activated sludge processes configured for biological nutrient removal at 10 and 20 °C
Dr. Joshua P. Boltz, Alex Danuser, Bruce E. Rittmann, and Jose A. Jimenez have published a paper titled “Modeling wastewater treatment by mobile biofilm and activated sludge processes for biological nutrient removal at 10 and 20°C” in the peer-reviewed journal Water Science & Technology. This paper presents a mechanistic approach for modeling hybrid biological wastewater treatment processes, such as the Nuvoda MOB Process.

Application of Nuvoda Kenaf Granular Sludge
A white paper by Stephany P. Wei, highlighting the full-scale integration of aerobic kenaf granules in a continuous flow activated sludge system for biological nutrient removal.
